I watch more television and movies than I should but probably less than most. According to A.C. Nielsen, the average American spends about four hours a day watching television. If that holds true for Christians, and I have no reason to believe it does not, then the average Christian will spend more time watching television today than he or she will spend at church, reading their bible or praying all week.
John Piper explains his position on this issue in a way we should all consider. Like Piper, I believe television not only robs us of valuable time but it also subtly robs us of godliness. It’s influence is more pervasive than we can imagine. Read and consider.
