Our times are in God’s hands. The next second is as much outside our control as the next year, but it is in God’s caring hand. We spend so much time worrying about the future, but fretting about the next minute is just as foolish as worrying about the next thousand years. We can’t do anything; God, however, is doing everything.
God has given us the present, and the work at hand holds the greatest promise for our joy. The future is nothing until God makes it. There would be much less anxiety in our lives if we concentrated more on the immediate duty of the moment. The work that we do faithfully now will have more impact on the future than either our worries or our dreams. Let’s live in such a way that we turn each moment’s duty into action.
